you know those people, they claim to be a really good friend of yours, but only action what they say when it works for them? when they are not busy, or when they have enough free time to fit you in. True friendship isn’t defined by the time of day, its constant- yes I know there are priorities in life, like finishing an assignment when its due in an hour, but friendships should not be turned on and off like light switches just so its convenient to one person in the relationship.

I think the worlds view of friendship has altered quite greatly, with the use of facebook and mobile phones, a catch up no longer is over coffee its over technology, how often are our conversations with bestfriends via the dodgy facebook chat, or via text? that isn’t a conversation, you could not see their body language, hear their tone or gage any of the other important parts of proper conversation.

Have we become afraid to have heart to hearts in person? I think to some degree yes. We find it easier to talk about things when we are hidden behind a computer or phone, where our actual emotions are not seen except for the often false emoticon used to portray who we are and how we are acting.

I am not pointing the finger at you, I am guilty of this aswell, but I am changing it, if I cant have the conversation face to face, i’ll at least pick up the phone and give them a call like  we used to before facebook became such a massive thing.

How many people you have as ‘friends’ on facebook, would you actually hang out with and have a good time with? It shouldn’t be called ‘friends’ it should be ‘people i dont really know, but hey’, due to this, i’m cutting back on my facebook pals, to those who I actually have an interest in pursuing friendship with, cause all these sort of know people don’t need to see my status on any given day, or my photos as they are things we should share with our real friends and family.

Go out and talk to a real person, you might be surprised by the conversation you have.
